September 15-October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. Join us on September 24th for our annual Hispanic Heritage Month Family Celebration.

Every second and fourth Wednesday at JZMS is College Day. Staffulty and students show their support for higher education by wearing a college t-shirt or jersey.

Families may choose to enroll in the Limitless Learning (L²) program through a partnership with Charleston County Public Library. Students receive free access to physical library materials based on grade level, and families of students in grades 6–12 may opt in to additional digital, research, and expanded borrowing access.

Food Service Employee of the Year!
Congratulations to one of our cafeteria lunch heroes, Ms. Sabrina Simmons, for being named CCSD's Food Service Employee of the Year! We are so fortunate to have Ms. Simmons working in our cafeteria. She provides excellent service to both students and staff and helps keep our cafeteria running smoothly.
JZMS is a Beanstack Reading Culture Spark School!
JZMS has been awarded Beanstack’s inaugural Reading Culture Spark badge. This badge is granted to schools with 10% student participation in Beanstack each school year. Beanstack's Reading Culture Awards recognize and reward schools for increasing student engagement throughout the year, with the ultimate goal of reaching Reading Culture Trailblazer status at 75% participation!
Meet Rayna Middleton, Our 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year!
Ms. Middleton is the 8th grade Resource Teacher. She also serves as Team Lead for the Department of Exceptional Children. Ms. Middleton will represent Zucker at the Charleston County School District's Teacher Roundtable with the Superintendent during the 2026-2027 school year.
Meet Kiara Williams, Our 2026-2027 Rookie Teacher of the Year!
Ms. Williams is an 8th grade ELA teacher. Although she is new to the teaching profession, she is not new to ZMS, having spent last spring here doing her student teaching in Ms. Aisia Ackard's 7th grade ELA class.
Mr. Haynes is a Star Principal of the Year!
JZMS Principal Chris Haynes is one of six Star Principals of the Year for Charleston County School District! Mr. Haynes was nominated by his peers and selected through a competitive application process based on his leadership and work to improve student outcomes and implement strategic change. He, along with the five other Star Principals, was honored at CCSD's Education Gala last February.
