Ms. Miranda Halterlein Cary
This is my 13th year at Jerry Zucker Middle School and my 20th year as a librarian with Charleston County School District. I began my library career in 1987 as a reference librarian at Winthrop University and then worked as a reference librarian at Loyola University - Chicago, the University of North Carolina - Charlotte, and Charleston County Public Library before entering the world of K-12 education. My first job as a school librarian was at Little Wound Elementary School on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
I have been National Board Certified since 2008. I have a Master's degree in Library & Information Science from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor's degree in Music, with a minor in Spanish, from Centre College of Kentucky.
My hometown is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but I have lived in the Charleston area for over 30 years.
I enjoy reading, walking, yoga, playing piano, taking care of my two dogs and my two cats, and spending time with my two adult children.
