Ms. Marian Gathers

My name is Marian Gathers, and I am a true Charlestonian. I graduated from West Ashley High School (go Wildcats) and I am happy to be serving in my community. I obtained my undergraduate degree from USC Upstate where I studied English. I received my Master’s in Education from Capella University. This will be my 7th year teaching and my 5th year at Jerry Zucker Middle School. I am proud to be able to give back to my community through my teaching experience. My teaching philosophy is that I am committed to giving students the tools they need to see their own value, analyze information and situations, and effectively solve problems. I have a true passion for developing meaningful relationships with students. I am a co-coach for our girls’ volleyball team, and excited to be doing it again this year. Outside of teaching, I love shopping, binge-watching Netflix, hanging out with my family, and working on my business. I am excited and thrilled about the new school year.
